Llama and Alpaca Clients
Thank you for choosing Brookside Veterinary Clinic for your primary care needs for your
llamas and/or alpacas. My name is Dr. Becky Kirkconnell and I am the veterinarian here at
Brookside who provides most of the care for our llama and alpaca patients. The following is
a list of services that I can provide for you and your animals:
- Annual health examinations and inoculations
- Oral examination and basic dental work
- Venipuncture for routine and diagnostic blood work
- Castration
- Initial reproductive failure work-up and treatment
- Vaginal examination
- Uterine culture
- Uterine infusion
- Ultrasound examination
- Cria plasma infusion (intra-peritoneal; Client must provide plasma)
- Emergency examination, treatment, and referral, if necessary
- Emergency wound repair
Since we are not a specialty practice, there are some things that we cannot provide for you.
This includes invasive surgery (as for cesarean section), radiographs (x-rays), evaluation of chronic
reproductive problems, extensive dental repairs, or other in-depth, specialty services. If you would
like to know if we provide a particular service, please do not hesitate to call.
Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday with call hours starting at 8 am. Any calls
received after 1 pm on weekdays, and all calls on Saturdays and Sundays, are considered emergency
calls. Our visit to your farm may occur after 1 pm for a routine visit, but we need to receive your
phone call request for service prior to 1 pm.
