Patty Tankus — Hospital Manager
Originally from New Jersey, Patty moved to the Central New York area in 2004. Prior to working at Brookside, Patty worked in Manhattan for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for ten years, and then for AT&T for five years. After adopting her daughter, Patty took a position at a veterinary clinic in New Jersey working at the front desk and assisting the doctors and technicians. She is now our Hospital Manager!
Patty lives in Elbridge with her daughter, Alley. Also at home are her dogs Finley, a Catahoula Leopard Dog, and Daisy, a mixed breed. Her cat Gemma, a big and fluffy girl, rules the house.
Shannon Mizro, LVT — Veterinary Technician
Shannon has worked at Brookside Veterinary Clinic as a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 2000. She attended SUNY Delhi where she graduated with an associates degree in Veterinary Technology.
Shannon puts a smile on everyone's face and especially likes small, fluffy dogs. Shannon also enjoys traveling to watch her son, RJ, play hockey and basketball.
Dawn Todd, LVT — Veterinary Technician
Dawn was raised in Canastota, NY on her family's dairy farm. Living in this rural setting sparked Dawn's interest in caring for and treating animals of all kinds. After graduating from high school in 1990, she attended SUNY Delhi and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 1992. Dawn worked at three other veterinary practices before joining the Brookside team in May of 2006.
At work, Dawn enjoys performing dentistries and talking to clients about their pets. Dawn and her husband, Roger, married in 1998 and have three children Donna, Ashley and Jacob. Their family has many pets, including dogs, cats, sheep and more.
Alyssa VanNostrand, LVT — Veterinary Technician
Alyssa grew up on a small dairy farm in Scipio, New York. At a very young age she was riding horses and milking cows. Her passion and curiosity for veterinary medicine began during those young years when she would spend lots of her time nursing tiny barn kittens back to health.
Alyssa graduated from Alfred State College in 2016 with a Veterinary Technology degree, and started working at Brookside Veterinary Clinic immediately after.
Alyssa has a golden retriever named Reyna and a long-haired flame point named Oliver. She enjoys country music concerts, hiking with her dog, horseback riding, and playing soccer.
Renee Harris — Receptionist
Renee grew up in Perkasie, Pennsylvania with her parents and her brother. Growing up, she had a variety of pets, including a parakeet, a hamster and many dogs. After graduating with a Biology Degree from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2017, Renee moved to Seneca Falls, NY with her boyfriend who attends New York Chiropractic College.
They have a Border Collie Mix named Suki that they rescued back in June of ‘17. She started working at Brookside Veterinary Clinic in September 2017 and is currently studying for her Veterinary Technician License at Medaille College in Rochester. Ultimately, she wants to get her certification in Canine Rehabilitation and Hydrotherapy and pursue a career in that field. She enjoys the outdoors; hiking, kayaking on the lake and loves going to the beach.
Kaitlyn Jahn — Receptionist
Originally from Massachusetts, Kaitlyn always had a love for animals of any kind. She enchanted her family with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, and many others throughout the years. Kaitlyn graduated with a Biology Degree from Wells College in May of 2017 and began working at Brookside in September 2017.
Kaitlyn and her fiance Eric currently reside in Aurora with their one-eyed cat, I-less. They enjoy spending time on Cayuga Lake, game nights, and visiting family back in Massachusetts. Kaitlyn looks forward to owning a home where she can foster animals on their way to finding their forever home.
